Join Sara Mellas for a pie demo class in honor of Pi Day! Guests will follow along as she demonstrates how to make 3 different pies - Banana Cream Pie, Apple Bourbon Crumb Pie, and Mushroom & Cannellini Puff Pastry Skillet Pie.
Sara Mellas is a culinary creative working as a recipe developer, cookbook author, and food stylist for a wide variety of clients. Holding advanced degrees in music history, opera, and education, Sara worked professionally as a conductor and music teacher for many years, while spending every spare moment of time in the kitchen. She is the author of the Easy Baked Donuts Cookbook (Rockridge Press, June 2020) and One For All: The One-Pot Casserole Cookbook (Rockridge Press, August 2020). An over-competitive baker, Sara won the 2018 Kellogg’s Holiday Baking Championship and the 2019 and 2018 Guittard Chocolate Passion Contest.
Sara’s approach to food is fresh, colorful, and a little whimsical, with a focus on whole ingredients and seasonality. She strives to create reliable recipes for bakers and cooks of all skill levels, with results as delicious to eat as they are beautiful to look at. Sara was raised in New England, spent many years in San Francisco, and now lives in Nashville, TN with her one-year-old oven and three-year-old stand mixer.
