Enjoy a savory dinner and intimate conversation with Sylvia Ganier, owner of Green Door Gourmet, to celebrate the start of the fall season and the newly harvested sorghum crop. You'll be treated to a dinner featuring Green Door Gourmet produce, as well as some signature sorghum dishes.
2019 marks the first season for the Green Door Gourmet sorghum crop. Sorghum was once a Southern staple, and Green Door Gourmet is reviving this piece of Southern agricultural heritage in Middle Tennessee. Sorghum was typically grown as a more utilitarian and inexpensive crop than sugar or wheat, but with the aadvent of processed sugar and flour, sorghum faded in popularity. Green Door Gourmet will be processing its 15 acre sorghum crop to make a batch of sorghum syrup, a complex and earthy sweetener that was once ubiquitous on Southern tables.
This event is an opportunity to learn more and to celebrate all things sorghum onsite at Green Door Gourmet. Enjoy good food and good conversation in a relaxed setting.
