At this time, we are not offering field trips or educational trips for children due to COVID-19. We will continue to keep you posted & updated as those opportunities open back up!

The verdict is in — Green Door is a hit. The students and teachers loved the field trip. I must confess that after 30 years of teaching and countless field trips my visit there last week was the most organized, relevant, and engaging."

FIELD TRIPS

Green Door Gourmet offers fun and educational farm field trips for students of all ages. Field trips are offered Monday-Friday, March-October. Click here to download our Field Trip Packet!

Prices per student vary with the activities you choose and are detailed in the info packet. Accompanying teachers and bus drivers are free. One chaperone is required for every 10 students. Adults are $3/person, and participating siblings will be charged the same price as the students. All payments must be organized by the lead teacher prior to arrival.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR VISIT

  • Remind students to dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Students may get dirty while on the farm.

  • Please bring your own water bottles. The farm has Harpeth Valley water on site for refills, and bottled water is available in our on-farm market for purchase.

  • Also don’t forget bug spray and sunscreen!

  • Organize students into groups of equal size corresponding to the number of activities your group has chosen prior to arrival. This allows us to transition smoothly into the activity rotation.

  • Be sure to bring your students’ signed liability waivers. Download our liability waiver and media release form here. If you need a copy in Spanish, please contact education@greendoorgourmet.com

  • Don’t forget your tax-exempt certificate, if applicable, and payment.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All field trips will take place rain or shine. We will contact your trip leader in the event of inclement weather. If you need to cancel your trip, please give us two weeks notice. If you cancel after this time, you will be billed for the cost of your trip.

DIRECTIONS TO GREEN DOOR GOURMET

On River Road, you’ll pass the marina and quarry. You’ll then come to a stop sign, where River Road meets River Road Pike. Keep right, and our main entrance, with a sign that says ‘Green Door Gourmet’ is 1/4 mile on the right. It comes up quickly and there’s not a good place to turn a bus around after the main entrance for several miles. Our gravel drive can be bumpy, so please adhere to the farm speed limit of 5mph. There will be plenty of parking in our grass or gravel lots.

ACCESSBILITY

The farm is an outdoor experience. The terrain consists of soil, lightly packed and loose gravel as well as grass. Strollers and wheelchairs are always welcome, however we require that students in wheelchairs be accompanied by an adult to help them navigate the landscape. We have handicap accessible restrooms available. If your group includes students with special needs, please contact us so that we may advise accordingly.
